Solving a DNA Cold Case with True Allele® Technology
In 1963, Oshkosh station owner Wayne Pratt was stabbed over fifty times. The case went cold. In 2012, DNA testing of the blanket that covered his dead body was inconclusive. In 2015 and 2023, more testing of the degraded low-level three-person DNA mixture was inconclusive. But in 2024, Cybergenetics computing revisited the “unsolvable” data with TrueAllele® technology to identify the deceased suspect.
The officer assigned to the case will discuss details, including the body exhumation, pursuit of multiple leads, how the accumulated evidence pointed to one suspect, and how the DNA evidence played a major role in the case. Limited DNA analysis stymied the investigation for years, but advanced computing unraveled the DNA mystery to reveal the truth.
